Steve started Premier Cranes & Rigging with Co-Director Matt Clark back in 2008. Starting a business to Steve was about empowering employees to see their long-term future centered around Premier. Not willing to follow the pack, Steve sought to establish a best practice, a systems-based business structure allowing for transparency and consistency within each job role.
Entering the next phase of scaling Premier Cranes, Steve and Matt focus on designing the vision and future of Premier and dedicating themselves to our clients and target markets. Furthermore, as Premiers new Head of Business Development, Steve is responsible for for leading and overseeing the whole of the business development functions as derived from our Strategic Intent. He oversees sales projections and planning, by setting and maintaining Premier’s pricing strategy and driving the Sales Department to successfully create pipelines of work with new target clients and existing valued clients.

Together with long-time colleague and friend Steve, Matt started Premier Cranes & Rigging back in 2008. For Matt, understanding the specific needs of our clients to consistently ensure we are delivering on customer satisfaction, is an integral aspect of each job.
Entering the next phase of scaling Premier Cranes, Matt & Steve focus on designing the vision and future of Premier and dedicating themselves to our clients and target markets. Matts commitment to being ‘on the ground’ has enabled Premier to consistently cater for every client with the kind of service that one would expect from a smaller business, while at the same time growing our fleet and crew to its current size.
Chi Shankar
Chief Executive Officer
As Premier’s CEO, Chi leads the systematic alignment of organisational strategy, culture and infrastructure at Premier Cranes. Since the beginning of her involvement with Premier as a General Manager and later on Chief Operating Officier (COO) the company experienced tremendous growth and transformation. She helped achieved this by leveraging her forward thinking, strong client engagement and negotiation skills.
Having worked at the intersection of business and construction for over 12 years across a range of sub contractor industries, while becoming a registered Commercial Builder and Residential Builder she feels passionate about setting a new standard for the contractual relationship between sub contractors and builders, where risks are shared and there is no losers in the industry.
A testament to her capabilities is her recent accomplishment of the “Outstanding Achievement as a Businesswoman” award, at the 2022 NAWIC (National Association of Women in Construction) VIC Awards for Excellence event.

Kye Giacomin is the Head of Business Development at Premier Cranes. With over 11 years of experience in the crane industry, Kye is a valuable addition to the Premier team. Kye has held various positions in operations, project management, and business development, delivering successful outcomes for tier-1 clients and stakeholders, particularly across major civil and infrastructure projects.
In his role, Kye is responsible for leading the business development functions and team, expanding Premier’s current brand across all key markets, growing the company’s revenue, and positioning Premier as the standout choice for end-to-end lifting solutions. Kye’s extensive experience in the crane industry gives him a deep understanding of clients’ needs and how to provide them with the best lifting solutions.
Peter Koch
Heavy Lift Superintendent

Peter’s extensive experience and in cranes, construction, wind farms, and oil & gas over two decades makes him a valuable addition to our Heavy Lift team. As a Heavy Lift superintendent, he is responsible for overseeing and managing heavy lift works from planning to execution.
One of Peter’s key strengths is his strong field-based approach, developed through his years of experience as a tower crane and mobile crane rigger and operator. He understands the importance of precision planning and execution when it comes to heavy lifts, and is able of leading operations in a safe and efficient manner.
In addition to his technical expertise, Peter is also an excellent communicator and project manager. He serves as the key site contact for all stakeholders throughout each project’s duration, ensuring that everyone is kept informed and that operations are seamlessly coordinated. This enables us to deliver projects on time and on budget, while maintaining the highest standards of safety and quality.
