Previous Infrastructure Projects
At Premier Cranes & Rigging, understanding your goals is our priority. This allows us to develop the right plans to Premier’s first large-scale infrastructure project was the West Gate Tunnel Project which was signed in 2018.
North East Link
Client: Kapitol Group
The North East Link project is the biggest road transport infrastructure project in Victoria. We were and continue to be involved in the early works for the project, assisting with the relocation of the Yarra East Main Sewer line that intersects with the North East Link.
We collaborated closely with Bothar Boring & Tunnelling to support their heavy lifts within a challenging and tight site. Our task was to plan and execute the lift of mini tunnel boring machines that needed to be installed underground as part of the new main sewer line.
Premier worked with the team from day one to manage the crane set-up and provide a clear pathway for the lifts to be completed effectively.
West Gate Tunnel
Client: CPB/John Holland – Joint Venture
The West Gate Tunnel is a large-scale civil infrastructure project with CPBJH JV as the head contractor, in which Premier Cranes plays a major role in planning and executing various complex lifts, movements or installations within the construction of the tunnels’ entry and exit portals.
We provided a dedicated lift planning team to support CPBJH engineers, including an extensive fleet of cranes, trucks, operators, and riggers available around the clock.
During the early site establishment works of the Westgate Tunnel project, we assisted in the complicated installation of a 27 tonne bridge beam and water treatment plant. These jobs involved careful engineering-based planning and set-up due to considerations of site-specific challenges such as power lines located in the surrounding area.
Additionally, Premier’s 350-tonne crawler crane was placed on-site for eleven months to assist in numerous heavy lifts to help build the portal entrance located on the existing exit portal in Altona North. We have also completed all the heavy lifts for the southern and northern tunnel portal construction.
As a preferred lifting partner for the project contractor, CPB John Holland Joint Venture (CPBJH JV), the Premier Cranes team has been heavily involved with the project from day one, helping with early site establishment works, utility service re-locations, and removal of existing steel gantries.
Chisholm Prison
Client: Westkon & John Holland
Premier Cranes engaged with Westkon and John Holland to assist with the development of the Chisholm Prison.
Our primary job was completing the steel and panel erection for the site’s structure, as well as supporting the installation of roof panels and ITS power poles.
We utilised the Liebherr LTM 1250-5.1 mobile crane to assist in the lifts. Due to the need to adapt to the dynamic prison development works, we worked extensively with our clients to map out a robust installation program that could meet project requirements and timelines.
