Project Summary
Client: Multiplex
Location: Geelong Corner, Ballarat Road, Footscray
Crane: LTM 1120-4.1, 100-tonne Capacity
Project Overview
Premier Cranes & Rigging executed a day of lifts at the New Footscray Hospital, utilising the LTM 1120-4.1 crane.
This 4-axle crane with a 66-metre boom was ideal for the job due to its impressive reach and maneuverability in tight spaces.
Project Details:
Site Challenges:
- Busy location on Ballarat Road
- Operating near live traffic
- Tight site
- Setup on pile cap
- Maintaining site functionality while setting up the crane close to the building
Lifting Tasks:
- Steel balustrades for top-level edging
- Sandbags for landscaping on upper floors
Coordination and Execution:
- Planning: Collaboration with Multiplex site management and structural engineers to design the lift location.
- 3D Modelling: Utilise 3d software to model the site, crane location, building, and lift location in 3D. This technology enabled our team, including builders, crane crew, structural engineers, and site management, to visualise and trust the lift plan, ensuring no interference with the new facade.
- Setup: Positioning the crane on pile caps, ensuring outriggers were optimally placed to maintain structural integrity.
- Execution: Achieving primary objectives safely and efficiently, lifting all materials without incident.
Challenges and Solutions:
- Setup Location: Ensuring minimal disruption to site operations and traffic.
- Coordination: Liaising with engineers and site teams for optimal setup and execution.
- Efficiency: Completing the lift in a coordinated manner to support the landscape program.
Premier Cranes & Rigging's expertise ensured the task at hand was completed successfully, demonstrating our commitment to precision, safety, and innovative use of technology in every job.
