In this month’s featured lift, we take you behind the scenes of a Super T beam installation, recently conducted for a valued client.

Working in close proximity to live power lines, this lift presented unique challenges that required innovative solutions and meticulous coordination.

By combining the advanced capabilities of the LTM 1450-8.1 and engineering expertise, we navigated the complexities to deliver a safe and precise outcome.

Challenges & Solutions

Challenge - Operating Near Power Lines

The installation site was located just 22 metres away from active power lines, posing a significant safety risk.
Addressing this proximity required a collaborative effort to ensure no part of the lifting operation compromised electrical safety standards.

Solution:

• Utilised a Maxirig 170t spreader configured at a 90-degree sling angle, which provided an additional 6.2 metres of head height - This ensured safe clearance during the lift while maintaining operational efficiency.
• Conducted thorough risk assessments and implemented clear communication protocols between Premier and our client team to mitigate potential hazards.

Challenge: Precise Placement with Spatial Constraints

The Super T beam’s final positioning required extreme precision within a confined radius while maintaining a safe distance from power lines.

Solution:

• The LTM 1450 mobile crane with its live boom capability was deployed, allowing us to achieve the required installation radius while ensuring a safe distance from the powerlines during the precise placement of the Super T beam in its final location.
